Elsewhere in the world (the real one, that is), tech staffers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology are warning professors and administrators at the school not to upgrade desktops or laptops to Microsoft's new Windows Vista operating system because the software isn't yet ready for "productive and safe computing," according to an internal statement posted on MIT's website. That's right folks, MIT gave Vista an F!
The FCA website is undergoing some additional improvements. The articles authored by various members are being added to the website. These articles will hopefully attract additional potential cases to our members, get the members’ names out, and improve the visibility of the organization and our members.
If you have an article you would like to donate to the website, have published in the newsletter published by the San Diego Daily Transcript, OR BOTH, we would welcome them. Articles submitted for publication in the Daily Transcript can be placed on the website before publication. This is a way to demonstrate your expertise and to potentially garner more business TO YOU.
I personally would LOVE to see some articles on Accounting and Appraisal, to name just two topics on which we have had nothing submitted to date.
For some articles about "How to write ...." for website search engines read How SEO research leads you to more effective sales copy.
Please submit articles to Jack Debes (jackd@fiskebrown.com) or directly to me, Daniel Vomhof III (dv3@4n6xprt.com).
"The times, they are a changin'..." "A rolling stone gathers no moss..." and other such sayings apply to the Web as well. Search engine schemes, patterns, strategies, whatever you call them — to garner a higher ranking in the search results — have changed from a primarily "key word" basis to "content" basis and "link" basis. Also, repeating from above, as it is relevant to the changing search engine strategies: For some articles about "How to write ...." for website search engines, How SEO research leads you to more effective sales copy.
And from our webmaster, a couple of things to think about are:
- Title, is it descriptive?
- Headings, are they available, are they relevant?
Since at least one of the primary search engines bases its ranking on "What the viewer sees is important," good titles, and good headings to start new paragraphs would be a "good thing."
In addition to the writing of articles better tailored for search engine searching, for those of you who have websites, I am asking you to do the following — add a link to the FCA home page from your website. Additionally, those of you who have also submitted one or more articles, create a link to your article(s) when we get them up and on the website. As this is being worked on over the February 10th weekend, I expect them to be up and readable by the time you get this.
Creation of the links will increase the FCA website presence in the search engines AND it will also increase your website’s standing in the search engines.

The Critical Importance of Website Monitoring
By the time you read this, the final submittals should be to the San Diego Daily Transcript and they will be working on the final draft of the Directory. Printing should occur in late February, binding in early March, and the Directory should be on the street by mid-March, unless there are some unforeseen delays between now and then.
